As Mayor of Llandudno I have had the pleasure of meeting Damian and discussing the work that he does in the field of disability access in the area. Llandudno has a lot of challenging situations due to the age of buildings and a large number of them being listed or in conservation areas, however it is still important to make sure that people are not prevented from using them when solutions can be found. The work that Damian does is very important in this aspect as is the work he has done with regard to public transport accessibility.
I work as a Contracts Manager for a local construction company and have been involved in the industry since starting work on the Conwy Tunnel in 1987 for Tarmac Construction. I am married to Debbie with two daughters, Kira aged 15 and Holly aged 25, and have two grandchildren, Elysia and Jack. I am also an animal lover and has three rescue dogs at home.
Prior to becoming Mayor, I held the office of Deputy Mayor, have been Chairman of the Planning Transportation Committee for two years and I am a very active member of various other committees and sub-committees including Community Services, Finance and General Purposes, Transportation and Public Rights of Way, Decorative Lighting and Staffing. I also represent the Council on the Great Orme Management Advisory Group, the Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Light Tram Society and the Llandudno Development Partnership amongst others.
In addition to these council held positions, I am the Treasurer of the Llandudno and District Darts League, a Governor of Ysgol John Bright High School and Vice Chair of Governors of Ysgol Morfa Rhianedd Primary School. I was also the Chairman of the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza until December 2010. I have a long standing interest in Amateur Radio having held a call sign since 1992 and I was Secretary and then Chairman of the North Wales Radio Society for several years and helped organise the annual Radio show that is held in Llandudno.
I have a passion for local history and with the backing of the Council I am currently working on a Living History project for the town to make the history of Llandudno more accessible.
