Colwyn Bay manager Dave Challinor has left his post at Llanelian Road. The promotion winning boss quit as Bay boss on Tuesday night to join Evo-Stik North side AFC Fylde, with play-off hero Jon Newby replacing him as first team manager.

Newby, who netted the match winning goal in last season’s play-off final with FC United, said he was delighted to take the role, and said it was "business as usual" at the Bay.  Jon says he wants to help move the club forward and is looking forward to the challenge stating “This is a fantastic club with fantastic people running it and I am looking forward to helping them move it forward and continue the great work that Chally and Colin have done."

He admitted "It’s probably come a little earlier than I would have liked, but I’m pleased to have been given the chance. Jon also indicated that he would be looking to bring in an experienced assistant with previous links to Colwyn Bay, but didn’t expect a new number two to arrive before this weekend’s game against Blyth Spartans.  Jon said "I will be having a talk with the chairman over the next couple of days, but I don’t really want to bring in an outsider; we need someone who knows the club and just what it means to the people who run it and support it.

Looking ahead, Newbs added: "We are in a strong position in the league with a good bunch of lads and I will be looking to keep things ticking over with as little upheaval as possible."
