A55 roundabout removal to go ahead, without EU money.

A scheme to remove the roundabouts at Llanfairfechan and Penmaenmawr, projected to cost around £35 million, is still scheduled to start in 2017

The news was confirmed by a Welsh Government spokesman after fears that the £35m works would be shelved following last month’s vote.

They are the only roundabouts on the 235 miles of the UK section of a transport route known as Euroroute 22 linking Ireland to Russia.

Ukip MEP and North Wales AM Nathan Gill told The daily Post: “I believe that developing the A55 is well overdue and is key to strengthening the North Wales economy as it’s the main link between Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe."
