Long Term Closure of Colwyn Bay Promenade Causes Consternation Among Locals.

The next stage of developments to take place on Colwyn bay promenade could take upto a year which has upset a number of local residents who say it may deter tourists from coming to the Bay.

The Prom has been closed from the Pier to Marine Road Old Colwyn, with no date set for reopening. Diversions are in place but these will only increase traffic on other local routes. It would be advisable to use the A55 when ever possible.

It has also been noted that there were no signs in place to advise tourists of how to reach the accessible parts of the prom, at Old Colwyn and Rhos-on-Sea.

I have been trying , without success, to contact someone involved to get more information about the potential length of the disruption.

Cllr Dave Cowans said to the Daily Post, “We realise closing this section of promenade will cause disruption, but every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum.” I don’t think his “minimum” will actually be that minimal.

Another local resident told me that, in his words “And this is before they start on the Pier!”
