Good Move Motability

I was impressed by the new motability scheme which supports scheme users, who have car trouble and find themselves without a vehicle, to continue their day to day business by using a local taxi firm, which is paid by the scheme.

For me, in Llanduno, it was Interlink Taxis. They have a 24hr accessible black cab available.

Surfside Arcade in Pensarn

I visited a lovely little family run arcade in Pensarn yesterday, where the owner is keeping the tradition of amusements alive. The arcades we remember as kids, and loved.

What was lovely was it was accessible for wheelchairs and they were very welcoming.

It’s obviously a labour of love, as it’s open from 10:00 – 22:00, with the owner going in in the evening after working at a separate business.

Well done to Jeanette Marshall, for keeping this little bit of seaside heritage alive.

Congestion at Conway Road end of Champenys Retail Park.

Works are currently underway near traffic lights on the corner of Conway Road and Charlotte Road and are responsible for the closure of that particular exit from Champenys Retail Park.

Motorists are therefore left with one way out and forced to exit on to Mostyn Broadway, resulting in major delays.

Motorists reported delays of longer than an hour and a half to get out of the retail park.

A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: “A traffic engineer made a site visit on Wednesday and advised the contractors on ways to improve traffic management in the area whilst the work is taking place.”

The spokesperson said once works are being completed to improve traffic flow out of Charlotte Road by providing clearer visibility at the junction, replacing the traffic light with a give way and installing a zebra crossing at a better location to improve pedestrian movement.

Maplin collapses into administration with 2,500 jobs at risk.

Electronics retailer Maplin became the second high street retailer to collapse into administration today, putting 2,500 jobs at risk.

The Maplin stores in Llandudno,  Mostyn Champneys Retail Park, and Wrexham, are now on the line.

Maplin’s administrators will keep the retailer’s stores open, and will continue to operate the electronics retailer’s website while searching for firms interested in buying parts of the business.

I will post more information as I get it.
