STAFF shortages, unsuitable facilities and a failure to rapidly discharge patients is creating a log-jam at North Wales’ busiest hospital.
The best efforts of “committed” A&E staff at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan are being undermined by inadequate premises, poor communication and a lack of clinical leadership, a watchdog says.
This was leading to “unacceptable” delays in the emergency department that has left ambulances queuing five deep outside the hospital, the Health Inspectorate of Wales (HIW) revealed.
And while staff worked diligently within the hospital, they admitted they were not always able to provide a high standard of care because of a lack of staffing due to recruitment delays.
Thanks to the Daily Post for this.
In my opinion one of the best decisions the Welsh Assembly Government has made in recent months was the decision to scrap parking charges at our NHS Hospitals.
As a regular visitor to Glan Clwyd Hospital, both as a patient and to visit family and friends, I was appalled by the fact that we were expected to pay outlandish parking fees!
It is bad enough to have a loved one ill in hospital without having the extra stress of having to find the money to pay parking fees.
Well done to the Assembly for making such a wise choice.
If ever you need to fill up and can’t find an open petrol station, here are a few that are open 24 hours.
