Big up the Council!

For a (big) change!

I refer of course to the excellent recycle and refuse team, who not only do a bang up job around llandudno public areas but collect my bins from the rear of my property. This takes away a large part of my stress every Friday, even when i keep talking to them they do a damn good job.

I have already made a complimentary phonecall to the appropriate council department and will shortly be referring this information to my MP.

Congestion at Conway Road end of Champenys Retail Park.

Works are currently underway near traffic lights on the corner of Conway Road and Charlotte Road and are responsible for the closure of that particular exit from Champenys Retail Park.

Motorists are therefore left with one way out and forced to exit on to Mostyn Broadway, resulting in major delays.

Motorists reported delays of longer than an hour and a half to get out of the retail park.

A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: “A traffic engineer made a site visit on Wednesday and advised the contractors on ways to improve traffic management in the area whilst the work is taking place.”

The spokesperson said once works are being completed to improve traffic flow out of Charlotte Road by providing clearer visibility at the junction, replacing the traffic light with a give way and installing a zebra crossing at a better location to improve pedestrian movement.

Volunteering for St Davids

i4Ps0avl (1)

Today, the 19th August, I was volunteering for St. David’s Hospice.

We were collecting for the Hospice outside M&S in Llandudno. We even had volunteers riding a stationary bike for charity.

Here you can see me with my charity bucket and the guys behind me riding the bike.

We raised a good amount, thanks to the generous people who took the time to come over and put their cash in the buckets.

St David’s are always on the lookout for volunteers, so if you are interested, give them a call.

The New Primark Store in Llandudno.

primark-2

I visited the new Primark store on the Llandudno Retail Park today.

I was there to buy some clothes, but took the opportunity to ask if I could be shown round the store to check out the accessibility. Regular readers will know I do this with most stores in the area, and although very busy, the supervisor was more than happy to get someone to show me around.

A lovely young lady escorted me around the shop showing me how well it was set out for those with accessibility issues. As well as large accessible changing rooms and wide aisles, I was very impressed with the wheelchair friendly counter they have. It allows wheelchair users to go straight to that counter, avoiding all the hassle of queuing and the bottle-necking that can occur when you try to manoeuvre a wheelchair in the queuing lane. The lift to first floor is huge, so no issues with space for your wheelchair, you could easily get two in with space to spare.

The staff couldn’t do enough for the customer and were extremely helpful indeed.

All in all, a bright, spacious, accessible, and reasonably priced store. Can’t fault it to be honest.
